In the beginning of November Cyril and I decided to climb Vrtača, a peak in Karavanke ridge between Slovenia and Austria. At first we were walking in foggy snow covered landscape, but after some time fog started to get thinner and sun rays started to protrude through the fog. Larch thees still have some needles left on them. The areas, lit by the sun were already without snow, but where fog has lingered longer, everything was still covered with snow. We saw a rare phenomenon – fog glory, which is sort of fog rainbow, caused by sunlight refracting on tiny water droplets in the fog. Higher up the view became wider and more magnificent with each step. One could see neighbouring mountains including Kamniške alpe (Kamnik Alps). On the summit we shared space with black mountain birds, which flew just above our heads. On descend we went around by Zelenica (Meadows) in hope that the fog will diminish, but unfortunately that did not happen. We slowly sank into the fog, wich was at the beginning quite thin, but when we reached Zelenica, we were again completely immersed in thick evening fog.
