Jesenska Sedmera jezera | Autumn Seven Lakes

Preskoči na galerijo!

Sedmera oziroma Triglavska jezera so brez dvoma eno najlepših visokogorskih območij v Sloveniji.

The Sedmera jezera (Seven Lakes) called also the Triglavska jezera (Triglav Lakes) are definitely one of the most beautiful high mountain places in Slovenia. They glow especially beautifully in the clear autumn weather, when the larches take on a golden yellow color.

In the fall of 2021, I decided to devote two days to photographing the autumn Seven Lakes. I started the journey on the Blato alp and got to Dvojno jezero (Double Lake) and Triglav Lakes Mountain Hut via the classic route through Fužina mountains. The fog followed me the whole time and I could only hope that it would clear up at higher altitude.

Minuto kasneje se je megla dvignila | A minute later the mist has disappeared.

As I climbed higher and higher, the sun began to peek through the fog. At Jezero v Ledvicah (Kidney Lake), I reached the border between fog and clear sky, which was not very distinct and changed slightly over time.

Near Kidney Lake there is an area of plate-like bedrock formations, where the karst forms literally attract the photographer’s attention, and the sparsely planted larch trees further decorate the landscape. At every step, new views of the rocks, larch trees and mountains in the background were emerging.

I photographed this area back in 2014. But then the larch trees had already dropped their needles and everything was covered with frost caused by the fog, so the landscape was completely different in appearance.

This time I was lucky that the larch trees were richly covered with needles of just the right colors, and there was no snow either (as in 2014, when I also tried to photograph this area).I stayed in this area for quite some time, as it was one of the main goals of my photo excursion.

Ko sem končal s fotografiranjem, sem se ob Jezeru v Ledvicah povzpel do Zelenega jezera in dalje do Rjave mlake pod Prehodavci.

When I finished taking photos, I climbed beside Kidney Lake up to the Zeleno jezero (Green Lake) and further to the Rjava mlaka (Brown Pond) below the Prehodavci pass. The Brown Pond was already covered with ice, which I had to break to get the water.

I slept in the winter shelter of the Zasavska koča na Prehodavcih mountain hut, from where there is a very nice view of the Eastern Julian Alps. In the evening I also witnessed a beautiful sunset.

Naslednjega dne sem se pod Vršaki povzpel do sedla med Veliko Zelnarico in Zadnjim Voglom, imenovanega Vrata. Jezera temno zelene barve so v ostrem kontrastu z rumeno obarvanimi macesni.

The next day, I climbed under Vršaki mountain to the saddle between Velika Zelnarica mountain and Zadnji Vogel mountain, called Vrata (Door). From here I went up to the Zelnarice ridge, from where there is a view of a huge area from the Valley of the Seven Lakes across the whole Komna plateau to the Bohinj ridge and Krn mountain. From here, the Seven Lakes are visible like in the palm of your hand, as the walls of the ridge rise above the valley almost completely vertically. The dark green lakes are in sharp contrast with the yellow colored larch trees.

I continued along the ridge via Kopica mountain, past Tičarice mountains to Štapce pass. I was in quite a dilemma here. I had originally intended to return directly to the valley, but the beautiful weather and excellent light enticed me to make a detour via the Double Lake, which had been in the fog the previous day.
